SharePoint Newsfeed app now available in the Windows Store

Mark Kashman (@mkashman) is a senior product manager on the SharePoint marketing team.

We are pleased to announce that the SharePoint Newsfeed for the Windows Store is now available for SharePoint 2013 users and for SharePoint Online users in Office 365.

The SharePoint Newsfeed app allows you to interact with your organization’s SharePoint social network while on the go. You can easily navigate your feeds and participate in conversations on your company feed or in the SharePoint sites you are following.

Now you can:

  • Keep up with your colleagues’ latest posts and comments
  • Filter on a Site Feed
  • Create new posts to share updates or ask questions
  • Upload pictures
  • @mention a colleague using global address lookup
  • Include #hashtags in your posts
  • Snap the SharePoint Newsfeed app to the side and multitask

Learn more about this app on Office.com.

The SharePoint Newsfeed app is also available for Windows Phone and iOS.

Customers who select Yammer as their social network in Office 365 can use the Yammer feed app on the Windows Store to participate in their conversations.

Note: the SharePoint Newsfeed for Windows Store supports SharePoint 2013 on-premises. Connection to SharePoint 2013 on-premises Newsfeed requires you to be within your domain network or to be using a remote technology like Windows Server 2012 DirectAccess. Previous versions of SharePoint are not supported.
